Cittaslow Poem
These are a few of our Cittaslow things A la 'My favourite things' from the popular 'Sound of Music'.
Paul Payten, 2008
Lunch on a terrace with good food and friends
Fresh vegies grown at your own back fence
Olives and basil from only next door
These are the cittaslow things I adore
Working from home and keeping yourself sane
Cycling to town to shop or just down the lane
Sharing your produce at school or the village
These are part of the cittaslow privilege
Chorus
What with GM, nanotechnology
Free Trade and climate change
I simply remember my cittaslow things
And I feel sure once more
Visiting art galleries, fairs and celebrations
Spending some time just helping out neighbours
Seeing the air so clean and so clear
These are the cittaslow things for me
Living in harmony with all nature's seasons
Using technology for just the rights reasons
Reducing our footprint as fast as we can
These are cittaslow things at hand
Chorus
What with GM, nanotechnology
Free Trade and climate change
I simply remember my cittaslow things
And I feel sure once more
Having the Council and businesses talking
Teenagers and old folk together all walking
Love and respect for the world at large
These are cittaslow things without charge
Growing our networks and spreading good vibes
Sustaining our future through traditional ties
Feeling we live here and filling with joy
These are cittaslow things to employ
Chorus
What with GM, nanotechnology
Free Trade and climate change
I simply remember my cittaslow things
And I feel sure once more
